Tournament success. The Crunch and Predators brought home the silverware last weekend when they both won at the Telford tournament. Despite being down 2-1 and having three players sent off, the Crunch came out 3-2 winners against Ayr. The Predators game was even closer, but they eventually won  in overtime, against Coventry. The winning goals for both teams were scored by Adam Elliott.

Good Luck to under 17's Richard Haggar, Stevie Lee, Carl Slater, Dan Sayer, Jordan Davies and Daniel Hackford in this weekend's tournament.  Also to the lads in the younger  teams already mentioned below.  There will be some great hockey played so get along there if you get the chance.  Keep up with results at  http://www.eiha.co.uk/juniorconfleague.html

The Crunch played host to the Bradford Bulldogs this week. This was not our friends from West Yorkshire but a team from Ontario, Canada. It was an excellent game and an opportunity for players and supporters alike to experience how hockey is played on another continent.

Tournament. KJIHC will be holding a U14s and a U16s tournament on the 26th / 27th May. There has been a good response from other teams. We need parents from the club to help out at the event and if they have any prizes to donate for the tombola, which we will be running over the weekend, they would be much appreciated.  Steve Ralph will be calling for a meeting with the u14s/ u16s parents over the next few weeks to discus the tournament.

You had to be there. The Predators went up to Whitley bay with a much reduced team (2 lines), but if they were supposed to lose, no-one had told them that. With them were four under 16's, two of which were on their first outing with the 19's, Lewis Murdoch and Joe Robinson.  Both these players have only fairly recently entered into competitive hockey, showing that it's never too late. Barney Simpson and Adam Cawkwell, have played for the team most of the season and worked hard again, on the day. But to all the Predators, well done lads, you can be proud of what you achieved against a tough team.......................... Has Phil stopped smiling yet?

Conference is coming.  Congratulations to Shannon Jones, Lee Bonner and Alistair Marsden on being selected to the under 11's squad; Dec Balmer, Bobby Chamberlain and Liam Charnock for selection to the 13's squad; Adam Cawkwell, Jamie Chilcott, Jack Dalby and Tom Ralph for the 15's. Watch this space for final news on the under 17's.

Congratulations to Scott Conway on selection to the England under 13's.  The club now has a representative in all four England age groups.  Scott will be heading out to Quebec in the new year.  Before that Adam heads for Sweden with the 15's, Jamie to Toronto with the 14's and Richard to Paris with the 16's.  Good luck lads!...............................

Congratulations to Richard Haggar on his selection to the England under 16's squad.  Richard is an old hand, being in every England team since the under13's. He also plays for the Crunch, Predators and Jets.  That should keep him occupied for the season.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Zero tolerance policy is the big talking points this season.  It's a shame that it's detracting from the real reason for us all being there.....to watch some great hockey!  Meanwhile sights like this are set to be a regular thing.  No it's not the team bench, although it may look like it. Spare a thought for the off ice officials who have to keep track of all this.  The Stingray's site has a hockey forum if anyone feels strongly enough to make comments.

Congratulations to Jamie Chilcott on his selection to the England under 14 team and Adam Cawkwell on his selection to the England under 15 team.  They were selected from the School of Excellence held in Hull in July.  Both of them have played defence for England previously at the under 13 level, Jamie last season and Adam the season before, when he was selected as captain.

England selection.  Congratulations to Georgina Farman, Natalie Davies and Bethany Davis on their selection for the England under 16's Girls Team in June this year.

Conference weekend was probably one of the best yet.  Scotland being back in seemed to add an extra competitiveness to all the teams and the finals day was well supported and exciting.  Congratulations to the Northern under 15's with Ben Lowe, Richard Haggar, Dan Hackford, Jordan Davies and Adam Cawkwell from Kingston, winning the final 3-0 over Scotland, who had beaten them in the earlier rounds. Also well done to the under 11's with Declan Balmer, Joseph Blowers, Bobby Chamberlain, Scott Conway, Kieran Strangeway and Sam Towner who reached the final, only to lose on a penalty shootout against the South West's All Star keeper.  There was also an excellent show of Kingston players selected to the various All Star teams. These were Sam Towner, Scott Conway, Jamie Chilcott, Richard Haggar and Stevie Lee.  Richard went one further gaining the Most Valuable Player for the 15's. Good luck to all those players selected for the School of Excellence who, hopefully will gain places on the England teams.  More details can be found at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/m.preen/junior_conference.html

Good Luck to all our players at the forthcoming conference weekend.  We have 22 players across all the age groups, which is an excellent achievement for Kingston. Apart from those mentioned in earlier postings there are the following.  Under 17's Chris Arnone, Matt Davies, Alex Foreman, Stevie Lee and Dan Sayer.  Under 11's Declan Balmer, Joseph Blowers, Bobby Chamberlain, Scott Conway, Kieran Strangeway and Sam Towner.

The Kingston upon Hull Young People Sports Awards saw Stevie Lee pick up the under 16 top player award.  It's been quite a year for Stevie and its great that the sport gets some well deserved recognition.

Congratulations to Ben Lowe, Richard Haggar, Dan Hackford, Jordan Davies and Adam Cawkwell on their selection for the under 15 Northern Conference Team.

Congratulations to Ben Sayer, Tom Ralph, Jack Musil, Natalie Davies, Johnny Haggar and Jamie Chilcott on their selection for the under 13 Northern Conference Team.  The Inter Conference Tournament will take place at the Hull Arena on 29th April to 1st May.  Book your tickets for a great weekend of junior hockey.

Teamwork.  Well done Lewis Murdoch who didn't get much ice time in his first outing for the Aeros against Newcastle, but he did serve a penalty for a team-mate. Even though he probably hoped for a bit more action, there were no complaints.

TV Stars.  The triple champion Riverrats made an appearance on television in December, teaching Paul O'Grady some of the finer points of ice hockey.  As a result of this we have two Kingston game shirts with Paul O'Grady's name on the back and signed by the man himself.  If anyone is interested, Jonker would like to raise £100 for each of them.

Congratulations to Chris Arnone, Stevie Lee, Mat Davies, Dan Hackford, Richard Haggar and Jamie Chilcott for their selection to the England 16, 15 and 13 teams. Most of them are old hands at the national level, but its Jamie's first outing with the national team and he'll be having a great time out in Quebec, at probably the biggest junior tournament in the world.   http://www.tournoipee-wee.qc.ca/Bienvenue.html

Congratulations to Stevie Lee on his first senior goal with the Stingrays against Romford in November.  There's lots more where that came from, no doubt.
